Our hire cars can also be taken on the ferry to the South Island, however, our only drop-off locations are in Tauranga and Auckland.

2. Rotorua

Visit the boiling mud pools, geysers, and hot springs, or immerse yourself in traditional Māori experiences at Te Puia or the Tamaki Māori Village. Rotorua is also a gateway for adventure activities like mountain biking and zip-lining.
3. Waitomo Caves
Famous for its glow worms, Waitomo Caves offers a magical underground experience. Visitors can take guided tours through the caves, where the glow worms light up the dark caverns like stars in the night sky. You can also try black-water rafting for a thrilling adventure.
4. Taupo
Situated on the shores of Lake Taupo, this town is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. It's known for its fishing, boating, and the nearby Tongariro National Park, home to the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Taupo is also home to the stunning Huka Falls and various adventure activities, including skydiving.
5. Bay of Islands

9. Wellington

10. Taranaki and Mount Taranaki
Taranaki, located on the west coast, offers lush landscapes, beaches, and the impressive Mount Taranaki, one of New Zealand’s most iconic and symmetrical volcanoes. You can hike around the mountain, visit the Egmont National Park, or explore the region’s cultural sites.
11. The Hobbiton Movie Set
For fans of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, a visit to the Hobbiton Movie Set near Matamata is a must. Take a guided tour of the beautifully recreated set and explore the iconic hobbit holes, the Green Dragon Inn, and the Party Tree.
12. Whanganui

13. Cape Reinga
Located at the northern tip of the North Island, Cape Reinga is where the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean meet. The lighthouse at the cape offers spectacular views, and the surrounding area is rich in Maori mythology. It’s also the start of the Te Araroa Trail, which runs the length of New Zealand.
14. Mount Maunganui
A beautiful beach town with a dormant volcano, Mount Maunganui offers stunning beaches, hiking trails, and great surfing spots. You can hike to the summit of Mount Maunganui for panoramic views of the bay or relax on the golden sands of the beach below.
